Jean Paul Gaultier Takes Dallas

There is nothing that could bring the Dallas Museum of Art alive like Jean Paul Gaultier!

On November 18th beginning at 6 pm the DMA will come to life in a new and exciting way!

You can explore the urban themes in Jean Paul Gaultier’s work with “sidewalk” performers, films, tours, DJs, and more. Oak Cliff artists and organizations will create a spectacle inside and outside the Museum with three artists during "Late Night" including  June Covington, Crisman Liverman, and Rebecca Carter.

Oil and Cotton presents an installation of contemporary art and domestic craft. Guests can try spinning and weaving with June Covington, who will share her expertise on domestic and fiber arts history. Crisman Liverman will perform his dress, a billowing patchwork of fabrics, creating an interactive dance party for museum-goers to enter, participate in, and behold. View art by Rebecca Carter, including her delicate threaded text pieces created specifically for this event. Drinks will be available for purchase at a cash bar in Fleischner Courtyard.

Help finish a jigsaw puzzle of Claude-Joseph Vernet’s painting A Mountain Landscape with an Approaching Storm. This work was recently reunited with its pendant, A Grand View of the Sea Shore, and both works are on view together for the first time in over 200 years.

She will also compare the work of Gaultier to that of other designers who were part of a new generation that emerged in the 1980s.

Throughout the evening, visit our Flora Street Entrance to see the installation by designers Julie McCullough and Neely Coker of make+made and stylist Marisa Dukowitz. At 7:30 p.m. meet the artists who created these handmade installations, reflective of the diverse influences and materials of Jean Paul Gaultier's designs over the years including his iconic use of lace, dress forms, and stripes.
