This Week at the DMA!
Monday, June 21, 2010 at 3:44PM You can't possibly say there is not anything to do in Dallas this week, after all, there is something every night at the Dallas Museum of Art EVERY NIGHT!!!
This week is the sixth and final week of Jazz Under the Stars for the 2010 season. Mario Cruz, a Texas native, is a tenor saxophonist and has toured with Bruce Springsteen, Natalie Cole and Willie Deville. The free outdoor concert begins at 8:00 pm on Ross Avenue Plaza on Thursday, June 24.
Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27, the Barefoot Brigade, a coalition of area modern dance and performance art professionals, will hold their 9th annual free dance festival in Horchow auditorium beginning at 2:00 pm with a second entrance time at 3:00 pm. They will also hold performances in the galleries at 12:30pm and 1:00 pm that are included in general admission.
Monday, June 28 is the final Texas Bound event of the 2010 Season for Arts & Letters Live, the event begins at 7:30 pm in Horchow Auditorium. Listen to stories read by Matthew Gray, Lee Trull, Harriet Harris (known for her work on Frasier and Desperate Housewives), Raphael Parry and Matthew Stephen Tompkins. The Barefoot Brigade encourages collaborations between area artists and companies to support each other’s growth and impact on the local community. The Brigade's long-term mission is to develop a vibrant artistic community for modern dance choreographers and performers, and performance artists who emphasize movement in their work. The festival is a rich and diverse representation of dance from across the North Texas area and beyond.
